Students should consider taking both the SAT and the ACT. Most colleges and universities
across the county now accept both tests. Some students perform better on the SAT, and
other students perform better on the ACT.
The SAT tests students' reasoning abilities to arrive at the correct answer. The ACT tests
students' knowledge on subjects taught during their years in high school. So although
students can typically prepare for the SAT more effectively than they can prepare for the
ACT, they should register for and take both tests.
